Steve, where'd you manage to get ahold of San Marzano canned tomatoes?

The local supermarket carries "San Marzano" tomatoes... grown in California! Apparently the grower got ahold of some genuine San Marzano tomato seeds and grows them domestically. The taste was not bad!

The seeds of the world-famous San Marzano plum tomato have been transported to sunny California, and the result is sweet, meaty and flavorful. They are great for soups and stews, but they really shine either coarsely chopped or pureed as the base for pasta sauces.

I just ordered myself some Lavalle DOP genuine San Marzano tomatoes, some SAF instant yeast, and some Farina tipo Italian "00" flour from www.pennmac.com

The Lavalle tomatoes were only $2.99/can.

Shipping wasn't too bad either.
