I use the ASMs straight out of the can.  For my NY pizza I run then through a small food mill.  Sometimes I just use them as is with some basil and fresh mozz.
I found the Rienzi's to be overly bitter, or sour, or something.  It was just an off taste I did not like.  I tried some other brands of crushed tomatoes and found a similar taste.
Until I can get real SMs locally for the same price, or find a place that I can get some Stanislaus products to try, I'll stick with with the ASM's.  They deliver a taste I like, whether straight or with some additions.  I also like to add them straight to soups or to sauces I'm making with garden tomatoes.

John, any chance you can post of photo of the tomato itself?  I won't buy whole tomatoes because they yield too little sauce, but it the crushed tomatoes are pretty thick, I might splurge on these.
Scott,
I used to always buy those before switching to Cento certified. They are real good...I believe the green label is their crushed/ground.

I didn't see your post until after made my sauce so no pictures of the tomatoes, sorry.

I was very pleased with the quality and taste of the tomatoes so for $1.50/can
I will go back.  I also really lie their pepperoni and cheese.

I hope that they are $1.50 at my store!!! Can you tell me which store you got them at so I can challenge for a price match if they balk?  Thanks! And thanks for the review.

I too just got back to the forums and missed the beginning of this thread.  There is a gc called "McAffrey's" near me in yardley PA and they sell the same ASM and I love them.  Few weeks back they had a sale of 3 for 5$...stocked up on them.  I like the whole toms for my sauce, puree in a processor with a chunk of parm, then thin it out with a good quality olive oil.  Have not had any complaints.....yet.   :D

I no longer partake in discussions regarding sourdough cultures or 'San Marzano" tomatoes!  :-X
