Time to ban iPhone photos!
« on: July 12, 2014, 12:10:22 PM »
Is it really that hard to post iPhone photos with the proper orientation?

Apparently it is. If people can't get it right, maybe they should stop doing it? We've seen entirely enough pies hanging from the bottom of the peel.

Perhaps it's time to ban them all together?

It's the way they take their photos, I use my iphone for pictures most of the time and I don't have that problem.  I think the fix is that the button needs to be on the right when the picture is taken.

Once taken the wrong way I think there is a fix and I think it's been posted somewhere but I couldn't find on quick search.  It's not as easy as rotating the picture.

95% of my pics come from my iPhone. Like Deb said its about your phone orientation when you take them I believe. They do look right when you post them is the other problem.

If it's that easy, then there is no excuse for getting it wrong over and over and over and over. I guess people just don't care. They must not be very proud of their work if they can't take 2 seconds to get the picture right. Why even post a picture in the first place?

Well one thing I've noticed is that even  if I take a photo on my Android phone, I can upload it to my PC and it looks correct on my PC.  However when I upload it on the Pizza forum, and it's suddenly rotated.  Being OCD, I rotate it (even though it looks sideways on my PC image viewing program) and it then appears fine on the Pizza forum.

So it's not just iPhones.  It's happened with my Android phone too.

I think it's just a function of portrait versus landscape and how the various transfers and image processors handle rotated pics.

I was using iPhone as a catchall. It's long past time for zero-tolerance for all incorrectly oriented pictures from any source.

The picture itself or posting it twice?  :-D

No, but if you are asking if I'm a bit OCD, the answer is yes.
