Shredding Mozzarella

I want to save money by buying mozzarella in blocks.  What is the best method/tool for shredding mozzarella?  My food processor's instructions advises against using the disks on soft cheeses.  So what do I use?  Thanks.

I use my food processor all the time for shredding with no negative results.

How do you use your food processor to shred mozzarella -- the blade or one of the disks and if a disk, which one?  My understanding was that soft cheese gets stuck to the disks and is difficult to get off.  Can you clean the blade/disk with just soap and water or do you have a special procedure?

My Cuisinart came with a cheese shredding disk.  As long as I grate the cheese right out of the fridge it works without too much mess.   To clean the disk I just use really hot water and let it soak for a while before I wipe it off.

Using the FP shredder disc is fine for mozzarella. The best advice I can give is to make sure the mozz cheese is very cold...it will shred a lot cleaner that way, especially for a soft, whole-milk mozz. Soaking the disc in hot water and wiping it off will clean it well. Sometimes I run a paring knife in the outside edge to get any cheese out.
