I can attest to them...wow..fresh great pies!... I go to Chambersburg often for DeLorenzos pies...amazing pizza.

Nice article! It's nice to see Trenton's Top Road Tavern mentioned. Years ago I was making a delivery in town and started talking pizza with construction worker. I mentioned DeLorenzo's and he mentioned Top Road. After talking for a bit i decided his recommendation was worthy and tried it later in the week - I've never been back to DeLorenzo's.

Ok I'm going to try Top Road pizza to see any difference...I'm sure they also make a great pie...

After nearly 15 years in Mercer County, I finally got over to Top Road last Saturday evening for a sausage Bar Pie (small, individual size). I had planned to eat about half and take the rest home. Well, as I sat there, it occurred to me, "hey, this is really good. Better eat some more", until it was gone. It really was good and i stepped back and spoke to John, the pizza maker to let him know. Perfect blend of ingredients; browned, but not burnt. Nex time I want sausage and garlic; maybe even anchovie.

This place is much less famous than eother Delo's and pizzas are only available in the evening 5 nights a week. I have to say I referred it to either Delos'; no long wait, they have a bath room, beer available. Worth a trip. ;D

No I haven't made it over yet...probably not till after the holidays.... If you come from Hershey thats pretty far but its probably worth the visit if its better than DeLorenzos.

Right accross the Delaware River from Philly lies a little treasure... Alfred's Tomato Pie in Blackwood, NJ.  Alfred makes the pizza himself and has just one thing on his menu.  Pizza.  That's all he needs, trust me.  Oddly enough, I live just 1/4 mile away, passed by it thousands of times and never knew about it until last week when I was researching all the pizza greats on the web, Sally's, Pepe's, DeLorenzo's, Pizzaria Bianco, etc.   I found some reviews and was amazed that everything that I've been looking for was right in my own backyard.  If you are on a Philly/Trenton pizza hunt, give it a try, it's very easy to get to from Philly or the NJ Turnpike.

He sings pretty good too!

I've had pizza all over

North Jersey - Grimaldi's, Brooklyns
Jersey Shore - Pete and Eldas, Vics
Philly - Chickies and Petes, Taconelli's
New York - Patsy's, Tottonos, Grimaldi's, Luzzos, UPN
New Haven - Sally's and Pepes

and still, hands down, I prefer Delorenzo's on Hudson St to any pie out there

Italia Pizza - Bellmawr, NJ
Check this place out on Black Horse Pike.  I was there and it was outstanding.  The pizza bread alone, which they give out for free as an appetizer, is ten times better than what passes for pizza in many places in the midwest and south.
I'd travel there from Arizona any time just for the pizza.

The only reason i joined this forum is to figure out how to make one of these pies. I have been going there for a long time. It is the only pie I eat. I dont eat the usual pizza. Only this one. If is only about 15 minutes from me. So, when I get a craving, I drop in.
