Cleaning a peel?

Anyone have any good ideas on cleaning a wooden pizza peel. There is a lot of dried cheese on it (from my last disaster) and I'm wondering if this dried cheese is a cause of the dough not coming of my peel as easily as it was brand new. I'm thinking of going out and buying some sheetrock taping knives to scrape the stuff off, or maybe just sand it down some more

One thing you never do is clean a peel with water.  It will inevitably cause it to crack.

Some people treat and clean their peel with oil.

I was taught to rub the peel with flour and use the pizza scraper to scrape/clean the flour and dirt off.
