Fig & Cheese Stromboli
« on: December 08, 2006, 06:13:47 PM »
Another chapter in the saga of what to do with leftover dough balls. I had some fig preserves which I mixed with some melted butter and some Armagnac. I spread the fig paste on the dough and topped with some fresh mozzarella (goat cheese would have been good also, but I had leftover mozzarella). Keeper.

Damn that looks good! ::)
It's an Earth food. They are called Swedish meatballs. It's a strange thing, but every sentient race has its own version of these Swedish meatballs! I suspect it's one of those great universal mysteries which will either never be explained, or which would drive you mad if you ever learned the truth.

Made a bunch of pizzas this evening for friends. The dessert pizza, derived from the stromboli described above, was the hit of the night. Fig sauce topped with Robiola cheese.  Made a perfect match with the slightly tangy Camaldoli crust.

The sauce definitely needs to be much thicker since it ran towards the center after hitting the heat. Even so,this was a perfect dessert pie.
