Beer in sauce

Has anyone ever heard of a sauce made with beer?  I remember from my childhood in Onalaska, WI (LaCrosse later had it as well) a place that had the best pizza.  It was the type with the chewy mozzerella and the sauce had a distinct beer flavor, it was so good,

I grew up in Upstate NY on Lake Ontario and we had a great pizza place called Godfather Pizza... they used beer in thier pizza sauce too!  It was D-Lish!  Wish I had the recipe.

They serve that in a brewery I love! I didn't know anyone else did that!!! ;D
