My first Attempt
« on: August 21, 2014, 12:34:44 PM »
Hey guys,
Im an Australian living in Canada, trying to make American style pizza !
The amount of recipes here is overwhelming, but I decided to take the plunge and make my first pizza all from scratch. I was not sure which dough recipe to go for, but since I want to try to do an American style, I tried Randys American.
My results were ok for my first try I guess, but I made a few mistakes and my sauce was way to sweet and because of my lack of skill I couldn't get a nice cornicione on my pizza, it looks more like a cake :(
I think next time I will try to do a Pappa Johns style, its the only pizza we have here in Canada that I recognize from the list of recipes.
I have attached some photos for you to see. Any advice would be welcome !
Cheers.

My first attempt sure didn't look that good.

Nice looking pie JC...paired with a fine Burgundy to wash it down with.  ;D

Few great accomplishments are achieved single-handedly, Most have their Norgays.
How do you spot a Norgay?
You start with the people with the funny names.

Very pretty pizza Jeepers. And perfectly round. I still don't to that very often!  Maybe a bit less browning on the crust? Unless that's how you wanted it!

Hey TinRoof,
Thanks very much !
Yeah I made a mistake and left it in the oven a bit long, definitely not intentional. I need to get a bit more comfortable with using the oven I think.

Try the 2 day Papa John's clone recipe on the 2nd page of the Papa John's clone thread. It's pretty fool proof for a beginner, and it's a pretty tasty crust. You don't have to use the vitamin C tablet, it still comes out great. Be sure to use bread flour, if you can find King Arthur's bread flour use it. Great looking pie for your first attempt. Keep us updated on your progress or any questions you may have.
