Hey Everyone,

Amazon has the KitchenAid KP26M1XNP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Nickel Pearl on a Friday Only Special for $249.95 with a $30.00 mail-in rebate.  Is this a really good deal?

Thanks,

Craig

It is $350 as you said... $354.98 to be exact... a far cry from $250.

Whew...

I was lucky to catch the deal in time :o  $219.95 including tax and shipping after rebate appears to be one heck of a deal.  However, the scheduled date for arrival is between 2/18 and 2/23  :(    I believe hand kneading for a few more days won't kill me.

Correct. When Amazon does these sales, it's for a short time. i.e. if you see it and you say to yourself, WOW! that's a great deal, you better act fast because it won't last for long. The length of the sale is based on the stock on hand and how many are being sold at that price.

IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER!

The current $30 rebate offer also includes a one year subscription to both Food & Wine and Travel+Leisure.  In the fine print, it states one can receive a full refund on the two magazine subscriptions (a $24 dollar value) by mailing a request along with a copy of the rebate submission form.  With the rebate being a total of $54, it makes my end purchase price $195.95!  A big shout out to MysticCobra for suggesting to monitor Amazon.com for a great price.

So far, I have made about twelve dough balls using Pizzaisgood's KABF Honey recipe and topping with November's #2 sauce ingredients added to a can of 6 in 1 (delicious) and basic cheese/pep/saus/ham/onions.  With 21.25oz of KABF @ 60% hydration, it does stress it a bit.  Hopefully if it breaks, it does it within the one year warranty  :-\

Thanks Patrick!

I am using two layers of one half inch unglazed tile from Lowes which cost me $ 8.32 for the thirteen in the oven.  The bottom layer is six tiles and the top layer is seven (one cut in thirds).  I have about a half inch gap around the tile edges.  To conserve energy, I have been warming up the oven to 350 for about a half hour and baking my bread.  Then I crack it up to 500 for another half hour to make a pizza or two.  I am using a panel off the side of a large U-Haul box as my peel and a cookie sheet to turn and serve the pie on.  My next purchase will be a metal peel and a couple of 20" serving pans.

Below are a couple pictures of the setup along with an eighteen inch pie I made at lunchtime today.   :chef:

Craig,

Very nice looking pies.

If you are planning on buying a metal peel, I suggest that you buy a wooden peel at the same time. Wooden peels are not all that expensive and you may save on shipping charges by ordering both peels at the same time from the same source (along with the serving trays). I have both types of peels but if I had to settle on only one, I would personally go with the wooden peel for the types and sizes of pizzas you are making.
