a sad, sad day :((
« on: October 24, 2004, 11:48:44 PM »
OK, this might not make as much an impact on you guys as it does me.  But the impending closure of Joe's Pizza, which I just found out about today, makes me feel like mourning.  I grew up eating at Joe's, which is right across the street from my old apartment building.  In recent years the quality went down quite a bit in my opinion, but it still maintained a reputation as being one of the top "slice pizzerias" in NYC.  It's hard for me to imagine it not being on the corner of Bleecker and Carmine.

Very sad day :(

What-a rent hike!  That would be a lot of pizza.  I was surprised at how long the rent had stayed so low.

Man... that sucks.

I'd be gutted if my childhood pizza place shut down..
Altho I now live 35 miles away from it, dang it.

Still.. it's there when I go home.

Funny you should say that. There is a petition at my favorite childhood pizza joint (Demori's) right now to keep it in the same location.

The building it now resides in sits on a property that has been sold to a retirement village. So it will be demolished along with the best local chinese food (est. 1963) in town. They also have a petition to help save them.

So Dave I completely understand and sympathize with your current situation. :'(
