Pretzel Pizza - Something new?
« on: August 10, 2008, 06:37:49 PM »
Today I was at the Columbus Fleamarket in Columbus, NJ and came across something new.
It was PRETZEL PIZZA. At the Columbus Fleamarket, they normally have a few pretzel vendors
selling the braided style pretzels that are about 12" long. One vendor started something new
by topping the pretzel with pizza toppings. Judging by the fantastic business he was doing
today, it seems to be a big hit.

I'm not exactly sure how he makes them, but he might take a braided pretzel and slice it
lengthwise to create 2 pretzel pizzas, or maybe he sliced it open and topped it that way.
I ate mine without examining it very closely.

I purchased one ($6.50) with Cheese & Steak toppings, but he also had tomato & cheese,
and tomato & cheese w/pepperoni. It was very good and I'll definately go back for the
more traditional pizza toppings.

Did you ever see Pretzel Pizza of this style?
Is this something new?

I am afraid to say that they have already done just about everything you can imagine with a pretzel.
