Alternate AC Adaptor for KD 7000

When I originally ordered my KD-7000 I didn't buy the AC Adaptor as i didn't think I would use it quite as frequently as I am (I want to have it out all the time and weigh everything for calories and nutritional information). I thought I would try to use an old one not in use before going out and buying a universal one but wanted to make sure it is safe before plugging it in. Here is what I have:

SMART REGULATED AC POWER ADAPTER
MODEL: 273-8203
INPUT: 120 V AC 60Hz 14W
OUTPUT: 3, 6, 9 V DC
CURRENT: 650 mA MAX

The KD7000 manual says:

This scale can be operated on AC power on a standard AC adaptor which output is DC 4.5 - 6 volt.

So is it safe for me to set the output to 6V and plug it in?

What's important beyond the voltage is the amperage.  Your power adapter indicates 650 mA output.  A "AA" battery has an output of up to 2600 mA for an alkaline battery, but as low as 650 mA if you use a nickel cadmium battery.  If you throw some nickel cadmium batteries in there and it works, you're fine with that adapter.  You shouldn't be at any risk of damaging the scale using the adapter since the output is so low, but it also might not be enough power.

I have the 7001 and the power supply is 5 volt 50 ma output.

I mostly use Sanyo Enerloop rechargeable batteries in the scale as I don't like having the cord get in the way when the flour is flying. The Sanyo batteries are pricey but fast on the recharge and last a long time.

Well, if that also happens to be the amperage requirement for the 7000, I guess the 7000 has good power management and 650 mA will be more than enough.
