Pizza Making Member Road Trips

I have been thinking about the viability of putting together a focused day or weekend trip to NYC for the purposes of tasting the top pies the city has to offer.

Any takers?

You know, NYC is only an hour or so from New Haven... perhaps a trip to Pepe's too?

That could work.  It would have to be planned far in advance, but if we got enough people we might even get some kind of deal for a hotel and the like.

I'm a Marriott Platinum member and have access to killer rates and guaranteed rooms. Steve, if you want to take point on this, I'll volunteer to help with the hotel accomodations.

New Haven with a visit to Sally's Apizza and Pepe's - I can't wait...

My wife and I have friends in Darien, Connecticut, which is about 45 minutes from NYC by commuter train. And, Darien is about 20-30 minutes from New Haven. So, I was thinking of making the trip dual purpose... my wife could spend quality time with her old friends while I take the train into Manhattan to meet up with the group. And, I would simply drive up to New Haven.

As Deven said, this is something that we'll have to plan far in advance. But, it sounds intriguing!

Speaking of road trips, me and my family are planning a trip out to the Midwest in June to visit the inlaws. We will be stopping in Chicago to visit with some good friends on the way (we're planning a 3-4 day stopover in Chicago.)

So, with that said, perhaps we can plan plan a Chicago get-together as well. I know that there are several forum members who live in Chicago.
