In June, 2008, a leading cooking magazine prepared a report on tests it conducted of several instant-read thermometers. The "Winner" based on the test was the Thermoworks Super-Fast Thermapen unit. The "Best Buy" was the CDN ProAccurate Quick Tip Digital Cooking Thermometer. I did a quick check on general pricing, and the Thermapen unit runs about 5-6 times the cost of the CDN unit.
