Where to mail order Stanislaus from??
« on: January 15, 2009, 12:24:35 PM »
I'm looking out at trying the Stanislaus Full Red that everyone talks about, however, it doesnt appear that there are any local distributors here in Idaho.  I called Stanislaus direct but the numbers they gave me for distributors said they have never heard of and dont carry.  Any idea where I could or a few cans to try out on the internet?  Not having much luck.  Thanks.

http://www.chefswarehouse.com/Search/SearchResult.aspx?KeyString=STANISLAUS

A rather large supply, you could always give some away to friends.

Pizzacrazy7,

Having read your recent posts on tomatoes, I was waiting for your latest question.

Another place that sells Stanislaus products mail-order is PennMac, under the Pizza Makers tab at http://www.pennmac.com/page/27. PennMac sells many of the Stanislaus products that are not on their website. If you call PennMac and ask for Rose, who is a member the forum, she should be able to provide details. Unfortunately, the killer with canned tomatoes is the shipping costs.

Another possibility is to take a look at the thread that scott r started at http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,2396.new.html. The sciabica link did not work but I found the company anyway at http://www.sciabica.com/magento/tomatoes. At least Sciabica is closer to you.

If you find a decent source, please let us know.

Peter

pizzacrazy, just thinking about your situation.  If you can mix and match where you buy your tomatoes definitely try the tomato magic along with the full red.  They are similar products, but I tend to like the flavor of the tomato magic better, and it has a bit more texture to it.
