? about compressing pics
« on: January 17, 2009, 03:30:10 PM »
I have 9 pics I would like to post over in the newbie forum. I have cropped and resized them, the largest being 92KB. Do I still need to compress them? I could attach them to two separate posts to keep within the 512KB maximum.

Liiantos,

I use the Windows Resizer tool.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx

Makes resizing pics a snap.

128K max per image. 8 images per post. IIRC, 512K max per post. You'll need two posts.

Yes, I understand what the maximum size of the pic should be and the number of pics allowed per post…and I’ve already cropped and re-sized them…but according to Steve in this post:

http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,2359.0.html

to send a picture to the forum you'll need to resize it. And, once it's resized, you'll want to compress it to make it even smaller”

So…if my pics are sized correctly before  compressing, do they still need to be compressed in order to post them?
This may be a stupid question, but I’m not computer savvy, and I’ve only posted pics to other forums using Photobucket in the past.

No further resizing or compression should be required for images under the 128K limit.
