Hey, John
Even though it's not really funny, I had to chuckle over your dog eating your starter because.... shortly after I brought our Corgi home, I went grocery shopping and left a couple 5 lb bags of flour sitting on the floor.... next thing I know, the dog comes to me with his muzzle all white!! I learned something new that day! Dogs will eat flour... and he ate enough that I was sure he was going to leave "biscuits" in the yard! LOL!
I actually have a sicilian-style Tommy's dough in the fridge, made with a new ingredient, suggested to me by a new member, NepaBill. I will make it tomorrow and post my results on my Tommy's thread... "film at 11" as they say! I made a loaf of bread with my own Puget Sound starter (that's another topic!) early this week... the flavor of the starter is good, which is the crucial element, but I still need to work on the bread recipe... "previews of coming attractions!"
I also seem to recall that someone got a good IR thermometer from HF, but also don't remember the details. I think with HF, it's the luck of the draw. Sometimes you bite the bear and sometimes the bear bites you!
