Fresh Yeast in L.A...

I've been on a quest here in Los Angeles, to find a supplier of fresh yeast...finally succeeded at "Surfas" in Culver City  (www.surfasonline.com)...a 1 pound block for $3.00...after using it, I do think there is a difference between this and IDY/ADY.  The hydrated yeast seemed to produce a more supple, smoother crust, with more of a creamy flavour...although it could have been all the beer and champagne from Superbowl Sunday....just happy to know that there is a place that sells it in this town of 10 million.
