Visa Ad/ pizza throwing champ / not real place.
« on: April 05, 2009, 04:42:37 PM »
If you have not seen the ad on TV it's really something to see. The tosser is Juan Hermosillo of "The United States Pizza Team", http://www.uspizzateam.com/profile_hermosillo.php He's a champion thrower. But when the Visa ad asks "where else can you get dinner and a show?", the answer is nowhere... as the place shown is said to merely be a set.  :-\

I did discover he and his brother do co-own "La Cocina de Isabel" in Costa Mesa, Cali. It's a Mexican joint, no pizza served. I wondered why they neither said nor filmed the name of the restaurant. Here's the ad, some wicked tossing regardless.

I have watched this commercial a thousand times, and every time, I am amazed.  Great skill!

It is a bummer that its not a real place.  I wonder if he is tossing real dough, or if it is some creative camera work, and he is throwing the rubber dough rounds?

I know it's amazing. I think the roll behind the back could be rubber, or really really really high gluten dough!

There's no reason not to believe it is real dough. The Food Network (or was it the Travel Channel?) has had pizza contest shows were tossers competed tossing the dough around like that.

Oh I now, I was just kidding. Just a very low hydration. This ''US Pizza Team'' has been on every morning show you can imagine. Here's the guy, or a guy, who trains them.
