Hi guys !

Well it's a great start to the day !, I'm watching TV right now ( a morning TV show called "New Day" )

anyway, my very good friend Mike from www.DizzyPigBBQ.com is on right now !

He's showing off a smoked pizza in his Big Egg smoker !, and also doing ribs, !

Wow, thanks to the satelite dish I was able to get the show, which isn't in my local town. Thanks
Starchoice !( my satelite provider )

Mike emailed me at get this.......... 4 in the morning ! yeah you read that right, 4am, ... he was making
pizza dough for the show this morning, his first cooking segment was on at 7:45 am.

Anyway whooo ! it's an amazing feeling seeing a good friend on TV, I'm feeling great !

another segment comes on at 8:50am also, and they are showing him each time the show starts after
a commercial. - He's outside the TV studio, in a marketplace area. He's got all his stuff set up,
and looking good !

I'll post a still photo later on today.

hehe I know how you feel....my sister's a stand-up comedian and VH1 video host in New York, and although she's been on TV a few times, I'd never managed to see her on TV until a couple of months ago when she was on the Today show on NBC. It's really cool to see someone you know very well!

I managed to catch Mike on the tube this morning.The host proudly declared it was the best pizza the camera crew had ever had.Good ingredients can make your pie stand out to a bunch of self declared pizza lovers(camera crew).

yeah so you know the feeling, it's kind of exicting for sure, although I get excited easily hahaha !
anyway I'll post a pic when Mike says it's ok. I think he won't be around for awhile though, I heard him tell
the host of the TV show that he was up at 1:30 am , and he was making dough at 4:30 am, so I would assume he did NOT
sleep at all.... wow he's gotta be tired.

Anyway the host said that the cameras guys rated the pizza the best they have tasted.... - smoked on the Big Egg....

Now I gota try that sometime soon.... maybe even buy a Great Egg on day soon.

Anyway more later, I'm just getting my ingredients together to brew in about an hour. Gotta weigh out my grain.

Mike was at my house on Monday so I had a heads up on the show.It is his daughters birthday this weekend ,so I believe a pizza party is in the works.I know Mike used Pizzaletto sauce for those pies,great quality product as i am sure the camera crew will attest to.

Canadianbacon and Aaron, thanks for the kind words. It was a fun time. Too bad they started the pizza segment early so we couldn't get the hot pie out of the Egg during the segment.
I'm really finding similarities between pizza making and barbecuing. Simple ingredients of the highest quality striving to hit a virtually unattainable 'perfect' result.
I did the pizza at about 500°F on an elevated rack about 5" over 3 firebricks. The crust comes out awesome, but I'm still needing to work on getting the right cooking level to get airflow and heat refraction off the dome to cook the toppings a bit faster.
Doing a test cook last night I had the Egg thermometer wrapped past the top end (750°F). I think there is great potential for duplication of authentic wood-fired pizza oven results at temps like that, but live TV was no place to experiment on a super-short cook that temperatures like that would produce!
I've got the Pizzaletto sauce, courtesy of Aaron, buffalo milk mozzarella (picked up at the market today) and a NY style crust I'm really happy with. Thanks to all whose posts I've gleaned a wealth of information from; it made my cooking demo today a real success, as Mark and Aaron have mentioned!
