Frozen Dough Balls at Walmarts Updated $1.12 each
« on: June 22, 2009, 09:03:12 PM »
Updated
This is a updated about the Frozen Dough Balls walmarts sells for
$1.12 each.
I have been using this dough for a tad over a year.
Whenever I shop at Walmarts,I always pick up whatever they have in stock (Last time it was 30}
Dough balls don't go bad so its best to stock up when you can....
My brother bought about 20 dough balls from his local Deli in NYC for 99 Cents each.
For these prices you cannot go wrong for very good dough(not made by walmarts but shipped in from a NYC bakery}...........JT

What does the package look like?

I dont know If I can get that here in KY...we have super walmarts but havent noticed any frozen dough balls in the freezer sections.

So any description can help me see if they sell em here.

Thanks!

Way too expensive for us.  My wife and I make 48 at a time.  We get three from 3 cups of flour and one cup of water, a little salt, yeast, sugar and EVO & 5 minutes in the mixer dough hook.  It is a great deal cheaper and tastes better because there are no preservatives or amendments.

I agree water is one of the most important ingredient.  We us non-chlorinated, non-fluoridated carbon filtered well water from an aquifer 110 feet below our house.  It was tested recently and has only 5 ppb of iron before the filter and ND after.  NYC water is essentially Delaware River water stored in reservoirs in up state NY and it is chlorinated and fluoridated. To me it tastes like my swimming pool water when it has too much chlorine. When I grew up in NYC we thought it to be the best too and now that we have really pure water we notice the difference when we visit relatives in the City. Using good water is as important as the source of the heat, the tomatoes, the cheese and the flour.  It is the formula.  IMHO.

Johnny,

How do you use frozen dough balls or prepare them, make pies with them?

How long do you thaw them out before use?In fridge or room temp?

I never used any and was thinking about trying some soon.Just have no experience how to get it ready for cooking. Thanks for any info.
 :)
