local paper pizza recipe request
« on: July 30, 2009, 03:43:29 PM »
Thought I'd post this because I can't seem to picture what this pizza looked like. It's from our local paper recipe exchange. The town is Middletown, CT. It sounds interesting.

"of Middletown writes, "Years ago there was the Santa Maria Bakery on the north end of Main Street in Middletown. ... They made a fabulous and unique pizza that I can still taste today, and I wonder if anyone knows where I can get the recipe or if in fact these wonderful cooks are still in business elsewhere. They worked a concentric circular pocket in the dough and stuffed the pocket with onion, parsley and sun-dried tomato pieces. The only topping was olive oil and grated cheese."

I'll post if there are any replies.

I'm thinking of a rectangle of dough w/ the filling spread over it, then rolled up. That tube is wound around itself creating the concentric circles and baked.

???
