A Tale of Sir Lancelot

Yesterday, I went to pickup my 50#of KASL at the local farm store.
Like I had previously posted, they were willing to sell me the 50# bag for
the same price it would have cost me to drive to DVF, which is another
1 hour of driving each way. 

When I got there, she told me they had damaged the bag just after taking delivery
of it.  She had taped it up, and told me she would re-order or I could take this bag
and she would discount it.  Afetr looking at it, and being assured the bag didn't come
damaged but had been damaged at the store, I took the bag with discount. 
So, the 50# bag of KASL cost me just $22.

Today I started to break it down.  9# went into my Cambro 6qt container. 
42# went into 1 gallon ziplock freezer bags.  A total of 51# for $22!  I will
make my first dough with this flour later this afternoon, can't wait to see (and taste)
the difference.  Thanks again for the suggestion/idea Trogdor!

Great thread, I used it today to score a 50# bag of KASL and a 50# bag of KA Special Artisan for a total of $46.  I could of shopped it around and saved $4 but considering it was a 10 minute drive I am quite happy.  Last time I drove to Dutch Valley and it took me 1.5 hours each way.

Kudos to Trogdor!  I followed the crowd and found that my local distributor, about 15 miles away, can order it in.  $29.00.  Not too shabby.  Now how do I tell my wife that I just ordered 50 lb of flour?  Maybe I can just purloin it next to the 40 lb sacks of dog food... hmmm...  Peter warned me about this.

I found a 50 pound bag on Amazon for $65 + $4.50 shipping.  I am not sure how this compares to other options, but it is better than doing without.

I buy 50#  bags of KA Sir Lancelot at a restaurant supply store for $16.75 a bag. Ginsberg, on Rt. 66 in Hudson, NY for anyone close to that area.
