Grande Italian Blend

Has anyone used the Grande Italian Blend before. I want to buy it but the only place that sells it is PennMac and they charge $34.97 with shipping for a 5 pound bag. I am going to New York on Saturday if anyone knows where I can pick up MASS QUANTITIES of Grande please tell me. I would like to get some East Coast blend and try out the Italian blend also.

Yes, but it is PS not WM. They call the 50%PS/50% Provolone their "Italian Blend"

Actually, they just use Italian blends as a heading, under which both the 50/50 and the Cheddar blend are included.

I emailed them and they sent me a list but I don't know if they are cash and carries or grocery stores. I can put the list up if you guys want.

I bought a case of this about 6 months ago and found it to be pretty good.  The reason I tried it, is because I had always incorporated some Provolone in with my East Coast Blend.  I will tell you however that I found the ECB to be better.   To me the 50/50 was a little too sharp/pungent for me.  The ECB is a milder cheese.  I am going back to ECB with about 10-20% Provolone..

i love that sharp prove taste . in the area of ohio i live in that is what most of the independent pizzerias use. i am in the business and i mix 5 pounds of 50/50 with 15 pounds of mozzarella to get a taste my customers like. now when i make a pizza for me it is straight 50/ 50. grande is a excellent product. very consistent , there pre-shred uses no gasses in the bag, and there marketing for the independents is exceptional .grande today cost me 2.56 per pound.

Here is the list of places that carry Grande cheese. The one I will probably end up going to is Pruzzo Stop One Deli because it is near the place I am going to. I am going to Mike's Deli on Aurther Ave. I am going to grab some things and go to a couple pizza places to see what the differences are between their pizza and mine. See what really NY pizza is, if anyone has any good pizza places they have been to in the Bronx or Manhatten let me know.

You are better looking at a cash and carry
Some of those places will charge alot more then the cash and carry.
I know of 3 of those stores and think you will waste your time...........
But then  again I can be wrong............

I went to 4 of the places on the list and none of them had the cheese. I called one by he said they only had WM blocks and I needed some East Coast blend. Whatever I got a lot of other cheese and 3 pounds of fresh mozzarella, also got hot and sweat sausages. Let's see how it's goes tomorrow, I am doing the Ovaltine dough recipe.

I finally found a place where I can buy Grande from in MA. I got a case of Grande East Coast Blend, it was 2.77 a pound and payed 83.14 total. Is that a good price for a pound of east coast?

Did you want that quantity or do they only sell it by the case?

Do they carry the Grande Italian Blends (Mozz/Prov  and Mozz/Prov/Cheddar)?
