I've been baking more pizzas with pepperoni instead of the usual plain cheese, so decided to do a side-by-side comparison between Ezzo Supreme Special and Venetian Meats, which is a local brand made in Ontario since 1954.  Both were very good and much better than all of the "supermarket" brands I've tried in the past.  The Ezzo cusps and chars more quickly than the Venetian but has a drier texture.  The Venetian also crisps up nicely with some char but not to the same extent as the Ezzo.  They are both flavourful with good spicing but I prefer the Venetian. The Ezzo is about 30% more expensive and only available at a handful of shops around here while the Venetian is more widely distributed.

I'd be happy with either of these for my pepperoni pizzas but will stick with the Venetian.

Where can their product be purchased?  tried searching online with no luck other then their retail outlet in Stoney Creek.

I buy mine either at Fortinos or at Messina Bakery in Toronto.  I think it's also available at Longo's from what I remember hearing from the sales rep.  Ther 1-800 number seems to be out of service but you can email them for more info.  If you're interested in Ezzo pepperoni, you can find it at Nosso Talho on Bloor St. in Toronto or Jesse Tree Fine Foods in Bolton.  Both of these places also carry other pizza related products.

Thanks Rolls, I see Fortinos has locations in the Mississauga/Oakville area which would be quite convenient for me, I have family in that area that travels up north frequently.

I make a lot of pizzas at home for family and friends and everyone loves the cuppers.  I can get Hormel Cup and Crisp, but what I tend to use is Bridgford stick pepperoni that I slice on a meat slicer.  It's a decent pepperoni but I was wanting to try something else.  Any suggestions?

Update...I got the Rosa Grande Cupping Pepperoni which is made by Hormel.  It is pretty much the same as Hormel Cup and Crisp.  I like it much better than Bridgford which I have been using.  Bridgford is way greasier and is in stick form so I have to slice it.  The Rosa Grande was already sliced.  I had to buy it through a food service company and had to buy 25 lbs but it ended up at $5.03/lb versus $12.76/lb if you bought Cup and Crisp at a retail store.

The retail Hormel cup and char pepperoni was not too bad. Unfortunately, it has completely disappeared from all the stores where I live.

I only tried Cup & Char once, but I didn't think it had much flavor.  Definitely not worth $1 an ounce. I also dislike it comes in tiny bags. I try to do my part to help reduce waste in the landfields.  And I'd go thru 5oz bags like it was nobody's business when I have a pizza night.

How were you able to do that? I am trying to find a good source for Hormel Rosa Grande Sticks but I do not have a restaurant or anything and didn't think I could access a food service company without one. Thank you so much in advance. I did get some Rosa Grande sticks online from Italian Shop in NYC but the shipping times sucked and they only sent me half of my order so not very reliable.

Pepperoni is totally subjective and I think I've managed to try them all looking for what I like the best.  Personally Molinari is my favorite, cooks up nice has great flavor and spiciness and is also great as a snack.

I've been finding hormel rosa at our local shoprite grocery store, not sure if I like it more than margherita.

Ran out of ezzo last evening and had to do hormel and delallo - flavor not bad, but ohh goodness the OIL everywhere.

I've been using Boars Hoad or Di Bruno Bros sticks but would like to try Ezzo which I hear so much about. What variety of Ezzo are you using the Supreme Special (ss) or the Gi Antonio ?

My distributor in NJ I think sells the EZZO Pepperoni for $45 for 2 5lbs bags to a case.
I bought the EZZO Sausage for $45 for 2 5lb bags to a case( best pizza sausage I have had}
But will have to wait till sept when I will have to go and restock my 2 Cases (30lbs shredded each case}of Grande.
Glad I have 1 place to get everything lol...JT

Hormel cup and crisp was good but the price was outrageous. It was as quebert said about $1 an ounce at kroger. That's more expensive than proscuitto.

Costco near me has this fantastic citterio ham I've been using at $5.99 a lb. Good stuff and it's garlic/rosemary flavor.

I don't understand the price at all, I get a 5lb bag of pre-sliced Pocino Pepperoni for $20. Cup & Crisp is 4x as much which is insane to me. Even Boar's head is cheaper, nothing at the grocery store I go to costs more than Boar's Head when it comes to deli meat.  Well except this cup and crisp lol.
