I absolutely love fresh basil on my pies. I have been underwhelmed with the flavor of the fresh basil I get at the supermarket. Is there a specific variety that you like best? Wanting to grow my own this summer. TIA

Is the 8g pack enough for the summer growing season?

Yes, if not 2 seasons.

Whatever grows best where you live, I'm sure that will do well as you will have a proper summer

I've tried growing the large lettuce leafed basil but greek/bush basil does loads better for me so I grow that, as well as the lime and lemon varieties  which I think are rather underused in pizza making.

Basil does very well indoors in hydroponics gardens like aerogardens and Rise gardens. I have just one plant in my Rise and it produces more than enough for me.

I grew the Basil that came with the aerogarden and found it to be totally lacking in aroma and taste. Not sure why. I bought a supermarket basil plant that was already grown and it has been under the aerogarden lights, but in soil and it smells and taste great for the past 6 months.

We had a basil plant in an indoor pot just as a decorative plant. I took a few basil leaves off it. You don't have to grow it outdoors or do anything special but you should have a lot of it if you are going to pick leaves off it and keep it as a decorative plant.

I've bought those packages in the supermarket but even the smallest package you have to buy it and use it right away. They don't last a week before they turn brown and if you make just a couple of pizzas a week you throw away most of it.
Pizza and Pursuing breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches are my food passions.

I have and used a Chefman HomeSlice, Breville Crispy Crust, Pizzaque and Bertello Napoli, and of course a home oven range.

We grow a lettuce leaf variety, it produces huge leaves ( one leaf for a tomato sandwich) its delicious and doesn't seem to oxidize as easily as the Genovese basil. Basilico A Foglie di Lattuga is the name on the seed package, easy to grow and very prolific.

The more stress the plant gets, the tastier it will be.  Prune often and don't overwater.  My indoor basil is boring compared to what grows outside.
