These are my favorite tomato. I've tried Stanislaus, Pastene, Scalfani, Jersey Fresh, lots of imported San Marzano but 6 in 1 remain my favorite I just hate dealing with the #10 cans.

Use to buy them all the time.   Pretty sure they're not available in that size anymore.

I have embraced the #10 cans of  6 in 1.  I dIvide them up and freeze them.

Ah well thanks guys. At least now I won't waste any more time looking for them.

Does it lose any flavor from freezing? Last two times I made pizza I planned it to where I was making pasta sauce the same week and was able to use most of the can but there are those times when I just want to make one pizza and opening a #10 can for that feels like a sin.

I think it changes texture and flavor. The question is will you notice it on a cooked pizza, and possibly some people will notice and others wont. It's one of those things you need to test out.

Pretty sure PNW is right, but for me, and i am pretty picky,  it seems to do no real harm, s3till tastes great and good texture. But yes, that's individual perception.

Freezing opportunity:  excess water can be easily removed during thawing. I like this for certain sauces (e.g. cracker)

Was looking for the 6 in 1 tomatoes in the 28 oz can and all I did was google it. Came across this site that has them available. Just thought I would share.

AFAIK 28oz can has been discontinued for awhile - maybe they have old stock?

TXCraig1

Were you actually able to order them or did they come up out of stock? I don't think they have sold them in a 28oz can in 4 or 5 years.

Quote from: TXCraig1 on February 24, 2023, 04:39:01 PMThey stopped packing them in small cans a few years ago.

I confirmed this with the very kind woman who used to ship a case for very cheap price.  However, look at this unbelievable deal I just found on Amazon where they are shipping free a case of 6 x 105oz cans (38 lbs total)  for a total price of $7.97.  With sales tax it was $8.50   This must be a major screwup by someone, but I just ordered a case. I'll let you know what the expiration is.

Maybe so, but on the listing they have a pix of a whole case.  I think they are obligated to honor that offering as published.

Good luck with that. It's a mistake in the description. Everything else in the listing is clearly 1 can.

Yeah, I'm guessing you are right.  I cancelled the order.  Now trying to figure out which Stanislaus to get.  See my post in this other thread:
