Any reusable pizza box/transport options?

I've got a very limited use scenario - I'm a backyard pizza guy, but occasionally we'll take them on the road to the beach or for a picnic.  I've been looking for a way to get them to their destination, where cardboard boxes seem to be the standard, but for a small number of boxes they run about a buck a piece and take up a fair bit of space.

I'd like to ideally find something reusable - like a 14x14 tupperware container, but it doesn't seem like one exists.  I did run across these:

But while I'd get years of use out of them, spending 75 bucks for three seems to be a bit crazy.

Is there anything anyone else is aware of that I'm overlooking?

I'm sorry I do not know of a product that suits your needs. The container you linked is interesting and, I agree, expensive compared to boxes. Is your backyard pizza oven portable? It would take some effort to haul it to the beach or picnic but the ensuing pizzas would be much higher quality.

I have brought a few pizzas to nearby friends (2 miles or less) using a warm stone on a wooden cutting board (or peel), covered loosely in foil. The stone keeps the pizza warm and prevents the bottom from getting soft. For somebody 2-3 houses away I have transported on a cooling rack loosely covered with foil. In both cases, I move the pizza(s) uncut to prevent a disaster; cut it when you are ready to eat it.

If those work dimensionally as they are just over 12", then they seem like the best bet. I bet you would find other ways to use them other than the beach trips.

The only other thoughts I had was a shallow 14" round aluminum cake pan, but finding a compatible lid may be difficult.

You could also try 2 18"x26" proofing boxes + 1 lid (since they stack). Then you have capacity for 4 14" pizzas.

I'm lucky - the beach is about 500 feet from the pizza oven, so I don't really need to move it.  I've been transporting pizza in aluminum foil, but I wanted to find something a little more elegant.  Since we're on a beach, I need to cut before we go because finding a decent surface to cut on is a challenge.

The linked containers seemed nice, but they went from 25 each to 114 shipped for 3 when you added shipping from Germany, at which point I could buy a whole lot of pizza boxes.

You could use a kitchen shears / scissors a la Neapolitan pizza if it's that troublesome.

I understand the storage issue, but I don't see how reusable containers could help much.  I reuse pizza boxes.  With a cutter pan or butcher paper, they stay clean.

cardboard boxes are around $0.50 a piece and as mentioned you can use butcher/parchment paper and reuse a few times

They take up room but you can find space as unfolded they are not too big

I paid $0.53/ea about a month ago for 18x18 at restaurant depot. The 16x16 were about 20% cheaper. I bet if you asked a local pizzeria for a couple unused boxes, they would sell them to you cheap or better yet give them to you for free. At that point, take John's suggestion above and reuse those boxes for a bit.

Hello guys,

I'm Marlene and the inventor of the discussed pizza box PIZZycle. Nice to e-meet you :)

I just came across this forum while doing research and I really love the positive community here!
To answer some questions and to give you more insights: We will soon start a crowd-funding to expand our production to the US. This will help us to tremendously decrease shipping costs through local shipping and to lower the product price to > 20 USD as well.

Moreover, I'd love to take this opportunity and to learn from you guys. Is it an issue you think about when making pizza at home or in your backyard that it will become cold too quickly or do you usually eat the pizzas right away and with some breaks in between? PIZZycle is not only a transportation box, but also keeps the pizza crispier and hotter for a longer time. This way you can eat with your friends and family at the same time :)
We have received great test results from various pizza chains around the world and in our own initial testings.

Very happy to exchange and to learn from you guys!

Greetings from Germany

Maybe consider 2 pizza pans, one as a base and the other as a lid, angle grind some vent slots into the top and hold together with 3 or 4 wide elastic bands.  These are fairly cheep and no need to cut vents, maybe just cover some holes with electrical tape.
