I just saw this on Facebook. Man, I'm bummed. And also shocked. I am really going to miss seeing his posts here, and this is a huge loss for the pizza world in general, as I'm sure plenty of other people have already noted here.
If we're not questioning the reason for our existence, then what the hell are we doing here?!

So sad, I can confirm that it was a heart attack.  He will be missed.

Gut wrenching. I first met him during the year he spent here opening Joe's in Ann Arbor. As a lowly home pizza maker I was surprised at how warmly he treated me. I just went for a slice, he insisted in taking me into the shop to show me around. We kept in contact after that. He did the same when I went to his first shop in NYC, he was very happy to have his own shop and show me around. He was always a real gentleman. RIP my friend.

Nice picture Hans!

Wow  :o That is very sudden... I never met Andrew and didn't know he was a pizza star, but he's lived in China for a while and we were in the same Wechat group (that a member from the forum created and called "Pizza Making China"), so both foreigners living in China during the same time is enough to feel close...

I guess death is just a part of life  :-\... Wish my best to the family, take care...

It was a good piece. I was surprised there was no mention of Joe's and his time in various places opening new Joe's.

I've really enjoyed being part of a forum where a heavy-hitter like Andrew participated. Tremendous enthusiasm for his craft, even at 59 years old. They definitely broke the mold after he came on the scene. Nobody like him. I'll miss him.

I came across this sad news yesterday and, like so many have already shared, I was also so shocked and saddened.  While I can't say I'll remember Andrew for his excellent pizza, which I never had the chance to try, I will remember him for his generosity on this forum, where he was always willing to share his passion and expertise with others in this hobby of ours.

Rest in peace Bellucci.

ABC7NY's parade coverage included Andrew in the passing of Italians in the past year.

Quite the honor to be included with the likes of Tony Bennett.

Not to dilute the thread...next year they should include Michael Chiarello, who died yesterday at age 61. I enjoyed his show and its hospitality. I have him to thank for my love of grey salt
