I've seen countless Hunt Brothers pizza shops in c-stores/gas stations. The idea of actually eating their pizza has literally never crossed my mind.

Agreed, There are many around Ohio/WV/KY I have seen.

I cite the above because several years ago, one of our members (Jake81), wanted to make a pizza like those sold at Casey's. We put a lot of time and effort in trying to reverse engineer and clone their pizza. The resultant thread is at:

They have a hunts brothers pizza about 10 miles down the road at the general store.  They serve a small market out there but I've seen folks eating the pizza.  They seem to be a pizza company that services more rural areas?  I thought about getting one before, but saw they only had 12" pizzas.  I was hoping to get a 16" pizza to feed more people.  Never did try it, but they are on the way to a killer trout lake so I may give them a shot on the next fishing trip.

Curious to hear the opinions on those who have tried it.  I am guessing it's a tomato paste based sauce, low moisture part skim mozzarella, and some fresh toppings.  Can't be worse than pizza hut  >:D

Count me in as another who doesn't mind Casey's pizza. It's like McDonald's, you don't eat it very often, it's not phenomenal, but it has that occasional lure for some reason. I've never had Hunt Bros. Around here we have Hot Stuff at a lot of gas stations, or Casey's.

When I was growing up in semi-rural Indiana, Hunt Brothers was the closest (and cheapest) pizza in the area. The options were drive 1 mile for Hunts Bros at the "Little Store" which was only the market / gas station for a few miles, or drive 4-5 miles to a Snappy Tomato pizza, or 7-8 miles 'into town' for the typical national chains and a local chain. My parents often picked Hunt Bros for speed and cost.

As far as quality, its not great, but it's pizza and is nostalgic for me. I believe the crusts come frozen to the stores (likely pre-formed), and it tastes like frozen crusts.

Edit: Apparently the pizzas come frozen (maybe sauce and cheese only?), I assume with toppings added on-site.
