Anyone else unable to place orders with Escalon.net?
« on: July 04, 2017, 08:51:00 AM »
I've been trying to order w/ Escalon @ http://www.escalon.net/Order for days and I keep getting this error message when trying to check out:

"The following errors have occurred.
(13) The merchant login ID or password is invalid or the account is inactive."
_________

The http://www.escalon.net/Order site appears to be up for everyone, but the address that you land on after trying to checkout, https://secure.authorize.net/gateway/transact.dll , which is where the error message appears is apparently down for everyone though that may or may not mean anything. I had sent them a message via their feedback form which is the only method of contact they offer, but no response yet. Lol their phone number is evidently disconnected; I found it online, 209 838 7341 Escalon Premier Brands. Obviously today's a holiday, but it's been like this since last week for me anyway so just curious if anyone else has tried ordering through them recently.

I had no luck at all, either. Finally bought on Amazon.

Christian,

I don't know if this thread will help:

Ouch. That seller on Amazon charges almost twice as much for the same 6 cans.

Thanks Pete. Lol well going by what it said in that thread you linked, even though the Escalon site is up and looking as though everything is fine with the ordering page, it's actually not functional after all, nor will it ever be, according to that thread. And for some reason they don't bother to pull the page down. Well I'd like to try them and all, but I'm not paying upwards of $40 for 6 cans lol that's crazy.
There was this contact info listed in that thread, of someone who worked for Escalon:
Shirley Hoover
Sales Coordinator
Escalon Premier Brands/Kraft Heinz Company
209-552-6013
.. and apparently people here were buying 6in1 cans from her directly and I guess she was sending them out on the honor system, i.e. before payment was even received. That's not a very organized way to be handling that so I can't imagine that being an ongoing thing plus that was well over a year ago. I dropped her number into my dialer and her name came up attached.. is it the number to her house or something? lol. Maybe I'll dial it later this week just out of morbid curiosity at this point.

I've not been able to order from Escalon for some time. You can find 6-in-1's at Pennsylvania Macaroni for a reasonable price, but the shipping is steep. They do have other good and hard to get pizza ingredients, though, so it's easy to make it worth the shipping.

Dang, they used to be $2.50 a can if you ordered 6 or 12.

Lol, yeah like $30+ to ship 6 cans to Seattle anyway.
FWIW penmac is having a 50% off shipping promo right now which is possibly just for today July 4th. Man that's just lame about Escalon directly though.

Shirley has always been very nice and helpful. Ive ordered from her a couple times. Never a problem and always ships before payment was even sent.

I need more now so hopefully her number is still good. Ill be calling her after the holiday.

I order from her about every 6 months. Never had a problem. She sends out the order before I send her a check. It takes a while before they cash the check. It's nice that a large company will cater to us home cooks!

They've always treated me right with a phone order. As noted above, it does take them awhile to cash my check.

Fyi I got an email response from Shirley this morning to my original inquiry via Escalon's feedback form:

"Good morning.

Unfortunately, we no longer have the web site available. I can ship UPS from Escalon at the same price but cannot accept credit card information so payment would need to be submitted by check after receipt of product.

Please let me know if you would like to proceed using this method."

I'll probably just order through her via email then since addresses etc will be in text and thus less likely for errors. Strange their preference for the honor system; maybe it's to make up for their inability to do anything about the disfunctional/frustrating website idk. Actually, if it really takes them that long to cash the check then that's probably why they do it, so you're not waiting forever for the order, which is thoughtful. Her email is
[email protected]

Since she said it will be the same price as online I suppose you can still use their website http://www.escalon.net/Order to get the price quote. $3.50 per can if you order 6 or more (otherwise $4.33/can) and $2.10 shipping for 6 cans and $4.20 for 12 and it goes up from there the more cans.

FYI - PennMac has had the half price shipping since end of April.

I bought two cases (12 cans) a couple weeks ago through Shirley Hoover.
She e-mailed me the amount of the check to mail her and the tracking info.

Amazing customer service.
