Title: Kickstarter Baking Steel

Has anybody used one of these steel's. I hadn't heard of this method until I came across an article about this. I ordered one and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.  Should I be concerned its only 1/4 inch thick vs. 1/2 inch?

Love the idea. Can't wait to try it out.

You should be concerned about the 1/4" thickness (1/2" is heavy, but it will give you a wider range of bake times), but the exorbitant price and fraudulent advertising should concern you more. With a little effort, you can get steel locally for a fraction of the price.

Thanks for the info, I will read up some more in the other thread.  I should have come here and done some more research before buying the thing I guess.  At least I didn't spend an extra 30 bucks for a freaking case.

I'll start looking into some local places that may be able to help me out, thanks for the info.

Wow, what an intense thread that is.  Love reading all this stuff, truly appreciate all the time and effort you all put into this.  I'm going to start looking around local places to see if I can find a 1/2" steel plate I do believe.

Thanks for the info Scott, did some looking around today and was able to find a local place that was able to plasma cut steel to my exact specs.  I picked up a 16 x 16 x 1/2.  Gonna see if I can cancel that other order now.  Pizza's turned out pretty good, got a bit more work to do to nail it though.
