Preparing cast iron pan for use
« on: June 07, 2021, 05:12:13 PM »
Hi,

I ordered cast iron pan recently but after reading several contradicting instructions regarding its preparation for use not sure how to proceed. Some swear by heating bottom up in an oven (180C), some object and advocate for a few minutes of medium heat on induction. Some people suggest using mild detergent before first use, others vehemently condemn such approach and recommend heating it on electric/gas stove with salt inside. Everyone agrees that it's easy to destroy the pan, but that's about the only common thing I could exctract from those articles/vids.

Can you light my shadows?

Wow, that was the geek I was looking for :D Thank you!
Unfortunatelly there is only one term for linseed/flaxseed oil in my language, could you share link to a particular product I can use as a guidance?
