Apple Crisp Pie
« on: December 06, 2014, 09:24:33 PM »
Looooong time lurker. Tonight I made my first dessert pie.  I thought I'd share the results.  I sautéed granny smith apples in butter and brown sugar and then topped it with a crumble (butter, flour, brown sugar, oats, and cinnamon). I baked it in the BS at about 600. Thank you to all the members for the never-ending inspiration.

we made something similar.  We added almond slices to the apples when we were sautéing them.  The toasted almonds added some great texture and "woodiness" to the pie

we are fast figuring out the dough/crust is basically a blank canvas.  As long as the flavors don't clash, like shrimp and ice-cream, you can put most anything on a pizza and it is great.  It is almost like a baked sandwich.
