Title: top 12 NYC Neighborhood Slices
Post by: quietdesperation on March 21, 2021, 04:05:52 PM
In the past, I've disagreed with a lot of siestema's pizza reviews, imo he's much better for Chinese food but there are some forum favorites on this list:

a marinara pizza recently opened on the uws, I'll give it a try next time we walk by.

Really appreciate these types of reviews, the middle class of pizza has been hollowed out. I had a difficult time finding decent pizza on seamless for delivery while living in brooklyn. The best I had was pizza prince in greenpoint, super consistent regular ass ny style cheese pizza that I could devour myself. Had the familiar taste of grande cheese I think, seems like it would have been home on this list.

They all look good except for that bacon slice.

I would.

my d has tried it, says itís heavy but good. to my eye, looks kinda disgusting but then i didnt like the look of our local philly cheeesteak slice and have to admit itís pretty good. i still cant stomach chicken ranch probably cause i dont like ranch dressing.

iíd eat the bacon slice (ignoring for the moment the health effects of ingesting a pound of bacon) before the pasta slice.

Ziti pasta is pretty typical so I guess people do buy it. We bought a slice for our daughter once after she saw it...she ended up picking the pasta off and eating it separately.

Bacon slice looks OK.

That second slice looks really unappealing to me. Like it was significantly undercooked.

As much as I've seen about Louie and Ernies, I don't remember seeing the white slice before. If I make it there with my family will definitely get one of those slices.

Craig,

Frank Giaquinto made a ziti pizza and I thought it was good.

They are fairly representative of the NY style. not implying there's anything wrong with what you like, bake or eat, but it's probably not NY style.

It's funny how we taught our kids to be adventurous eaters, they've eaten ziti slices but I haven't quite been able to bring myself to do it. again, I'll warn anyone using this list as some sort of guide that we have a much better list here:

Sietsema needs to go the way of the dinosaurs. Bad takes on nearly everything. I often wonder if his tastebuds are functional

I kind of feel that way about Eater in general.

IMO, Sietsema's redeeming quality is his willingness to cast a wide net on the ethnic restaurants. It's hit or miss on whether I agree but he does raise awareness on interesting places. For example:

https://ny.eater.com/2021/1/21/22227017/best-biryani-guide-new-york-new-jersey

chowhound used to be a go to but it's dead. lauhound http://www.lauhound.com/ was fabulous for Asian food but he stopped updating.

where do you go for this type of intel?
