Di Fara Delivery from Goldbelly
« on: April 26, 2020, 07:35:18 PM »
For anyone who hasn't seen it... You can get Di Fara off of goldbelly:
https://www.goldbelly.com/di-fara-pizza

Supposedly it's made at the shop.

The price is insane but after a few weeks in quarantine I figured what the heck. I have never been able to make it to experience the real deal.

It took about 2 weeks before my ship date came and once it did, it arrived over night.

I didn't expect much as I knew it would be somewhat frozen or whatever. But was looking forward to at least being able to see what the ingredients/taste was like.

I was so excited to get it but unfortunately it may have ended up being one of the worst pizza experiences i've ever had. So bummed!

Freezer burn was so bad... and much of the top seemed like it was frozen a long while ago with a few lumps of fresh cheese on top of it. The crust was so hard from being frozen the ends of the square pie were inedible. Many of the slices had no cheese at all and basically shattered with big empty bubbles in the crust.

As for the neapolitan pie, it almost was identical in taste and consistency to this from Trader Joe's:

Bottom line is it was not great. Hopefully someday I can get to Di Fara and experience the real thing because this was no doubt nothing like it.

Photos attached...

Hope they can figure out a more ideal way to ship out frozen pizza that works better.

You can almost taste how bad it was just by looking at those photos.

I walked by their location in a casino in Las Vegas last year. The pizza looked like generic NY pizza, nothing like their Brooklyn shop...

I'm thinking it's probably not made at the shop because it would have to be FDA inspected to ship out of NY, and given their history with local health departments, that seems kind of unlikely.

The picture in the add does have the right look. The one you got, not so much  :(  If it was made in the shop, or by anyone involved with the business, it would seem they don't care much about QC.

Maggie is destroying Di Fara’s legacy.
What is a legacy when you have ran a Pigsty for years and were called on it?   A bunch of relatives milking a business equivalent to Johnny's in Mount Vernon where the family protected and produces the legacy everyday.  No questions or City of Health Department violations.  I can't even stand looking at anything that comes out of that  s**hole

What an outrageous scam. The website only has six reviews and they all rave about how great it is. I wonder how many bad reviews they are deleting?

You would think that at the ridiculous prices they are asking (and apparently getting), those pizzas would be perfect examples.

Snowdy77: Did you at least send them a review?

I would request a refund.

Years ago I got a craving for my childhood pizza. I called up the owner, he packed and shipped by FedEx 10 frozen pizzas to me 3,000 miles. They were awesome. He had experience selling his pizzas from his shop in frozen state for many years so he had it down.

What an outrageous scam.
The Scam has been working for years with the Gentrification of Brooklyn.  So all those super intelligent  Gen Y  and Gen Z with those Fancy College degrees think they have found the Holy Grail when they actually found Roach remains in the Mozz.   Geniuses and Parents in my age group paid for their fine education.
They are going to run the Country?  Crap they can't even tell what good pizza is.

I'm definitely going to try to send them a review directly. Such a bummer!

I would request a refund.

I would as well. And if they didn't honor it within a couple of days, I would contact my credit card company to decline the charges stating you were sent food that was inedible. Otherwise they'll keep on scamming people like this.

This is a picture of an excellent DiFara (shop made) pie my son and I enjoyed in October of 2019...doesn't look anything like the pictures of the "export" pizza!

Craig,

I am friends with Margie De Marco on Facebook.  The first photo is a pie she made in the shop and the others were par-baked pies that she sells on Goldbelly.  The differences in the pie made in the shop and the ones that are shipped are a lot different.

Know I tried to make par-baked pizza's, that then were taken home to finish baking.  They never tasted the same as pizza's made the same day.  That is why I stopped trying.

So goldbelly really has no quality control. It's a great deal for goldbelly bad deal for the customer. All goldbelly provides is the shipping material. It's up to the restaurants to make, cool, freeze, and seal (or vac seal) their product. So it's not consistent from vendor to vendor. The restaurant then decides what they want to sell it for, and goldbelly puts a markup on top of that.
