With the Hearthkit, do you put your pizza right on the floor of the hearthkit, or do you put a stone on the supplied rack? I assume it's the former. thx

sadiamond, which kit are you talking about, do you have a link to it ?

By the way, make sure to check out Steve's homemade hearth, - he said it works very well.

it's made of plain old 14 cent quarry tiles....

pictures are still on the website ( saw 'em last week )

Thank you for the quick response, bacon. It's this one: http://www.surlatable.com/common/products/product_details.cfm?PRRFNBR=8162

I'm planning on using quarry tiles outdoors on my grill. Don't really want to use them indoors for many reasons. Again, thanks!

Thanks for the link.  Somebody is going to jump in on this I"m sure, most probabally by tonight.

I can't recall if somebody bought this one, or wanted to, but there was in depth talk about it.

for fun do a search using "hearth kit " or "hearthkit" and see what comes up.

there was much talk in the past, and guys will be willing to share some good tips with you.

I'll keep an eye on this thread.

So no quarry tiles eh....  well I won't ask  ;D , the hearth is very nice looking any right  >:D

Park that beautiful pizza right on the floor of the hearthkit, no rack or other stone.

Thanks Bacon and apizza! Have some experience to gain before the pizzas LOOK beautiful, but they already taste pretty darned good. Again, thanks. I'm not signing up to buy one of these just yet...but am curious. All in all, if I have 200 bucks to spend, this appears to be a better investment than a stand mixer that I really don't have room for anyway.

Yes I am very interested to know about the HearthKits too.
I did a search and this was the first one on the list.

Very expensive at 200 small Jr pizza's.
But If it is worth the dough then maybe I may get one.

But the quarry tiles from Home Depot may sound like a temporary great plan.
