I got the new 1/2" steel - seasoned and ready to go.....
Gi Metal peel then arrives in the post and is smaller than described so no good - replacement larger one will take 3 weeks!
What to do in the meantime?

Make a cardboard one!

Its got a handle made from leftover wooden trim, and triple strips of top quality duct tape to keep everything secure.
First ever use of the steel & peel I made some naan bread. I rushed the dough as had a very hungry 4 year old waiting, but I was impressed with results for first time. Undercarriage was a bit lacking, but I didn't realise when I switched from broil back to oven between bakes the temp setting goes to medium so steel was not as hot as it should have been
