Good turning peel
« on: March 21, 2022, 02:02:00 PM »
Hello,

I have received my new 90x70 Pizza Party after having used a Ooni Karu over a year.
Now I need a actual turning peel, as my previous standard square metal peel is way too short and not that great either.

What can you recommend? I want to try to eventually cook two (appr. 35cm) Pizzas at the same time. Which size would also be appropriate?

I still have old wooden peel, which I like a lot, but is only around 29cm and with a short handle, I would eventually buy another 35-39cm (about the size of the Pizza Party door), is there anything you can recommend in this regard as well? I am a fan of wood, especially as I try to get to higher hydration with a lot of sticking.

Thanks a lot!

You don't want a wooden peel for turning.  They are much thicker then a metal one and would be hard to get under a delicate pizza.
I suggest searching Amazon for "turning peel".  A 6"  (15.25cm) one should work fine.

For a wooden peel, again I suggest searching Amazon for a "wooden peel".
You should be able to find 14" (35cm) ones with varying lengths of handles.

Sorry I can't recommend a particular one, but being in the USA, anything I find on the Internet, you may not find in Germany.

Yeah, I just asked for a similar recommendation for a launching peel, a wooden peel for turning at 900F wouldnt last that long either.

I only seem to find 9" peels, perforated seem to be the better choice as the heat transfer is less inhibited during turning.
Pretty hard to find a 6-7" one.

Thanks

Not cheap but ranges in size from 6" - 10"
