Quik Disks--better than pizza screens?
« on: January 22, 2005, 05:47:48 PM »
Hi all,

I saw these things in my local Italian market the other day, and found this website describing them by accident today:
http://www.lloydpans.com/quik.html

Any thoughts?  Does this sound legit?

Dave,

I have one of such Quik-Disks that I purchased a while back from pizzatools.com (which is a related company) and while I haven't tried it yet, it appears to be a legitimate product. Tom Lehmann often recommends them, especially the coated ones, as alternatives to pizza screens, and particularly where health codes prohibit the screens.

Hi Dave,

I also have some, I bought them about 12 years ago, and I've tried them a few times but not in the last 10 years, I just can't remember
how they worked vs the screen, but I bet the screen works better..... it will give more heat to the bottom of the pie ... and get it crisp faster,

I also have a huge one that has very tiny holes in it.......... so it's 1/2 way between a regular pizza pan but has holes that I guess allow a bit more
heat in.... hmm......
