Okay, kiddos!
This one is self-explanatory I won't even ask, "what am I making". I made the two pastry formula yesterday, I was about to chuck the second unused one in the freezer. Then I said, "what the heck let's make another pie!" I never made a topless cherry pie before. Smile...
I am using my much-loved Corelle-ware pie plate. (It's the bee's knees)

My eye for design is improving exponentially with every pie I bake, every move I make! It's almost like someone is watching me! Smile... I know I am silly. But hey, better happy than the alternative.

I'll take it!
It's an Earth food. They are called Swedish meatballs. It's a strange thing, but every sentient race has its own version of these Swedish meatballs! I suspect it's one of those great universal mysteries which will either never be explained, or which would drive you mad if you ever learned the truth.

Strawberry ice cream, farm to table. Another 40-60 min in the freezer might have helped this but we did not want to feed it to the little guys too close to bedtime. It sure was delicious and refreshing. All of us loved it and the boys got a kick out of the process.

That's quite the strawberry patch.

We make homemade ice cream too.
Not often, but is good to have once in a while.
Typically just vanilla so we can put it on cobbler or pie.

Bruce, my current strawberry patch is 3 new plants in a large container on the deck. My wife took the kids to a nearby U-Pick place Saturday morning.

Good morning, friends.
Please be cool and stay safe. I am preparing for a black and blue CSA farm box special today. I was about to put on my shorts and head over to the 24/7 Morten Williams supermarket; for some supplemental berries. Then I thought to myself, a little pectin never hurt any pie! Enter the pink lady.
The players are:
Blueberry
Black Rasberry
Pink lady apple
Lemon juice
1/4 tsp. Cardamom
pinch of cloves
1/4 tsp. Ginger.
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
3/4 tsp. Cinnamon
Pinch of salt

Looks beautiful, GW. Is there no sugar in that pie?

The list is just the main players. The finished filling included a scant cup of sugar. Also about three heaping Tbs. of cornstarch. The cornstarch went into the stove thickened juices. The flesh of the fruit is not precooked. I added a heaping tsp. of tapioca to the fruit flesh also, as insurance. Smile. I think that's all the ingredients.

I made and lined the pie pan with the shell and pre-made the topper yesterday. The topper I froze the shell was refrigerated. The make-ahead pastry was to be a farm box fruit pie tomorrow. However, I got antsy and made a Jared cherry pie this morning. I cracked the frozen topper and cut a piece of the crust off the shell when I trimmed the topper. Other than that not too bad at all! Happy 4th of July!

I had some very ripe bananas to use up, so I made a plain old banana bread loaf. I used the recipe from Jim Fobel's Old Fashioned Baking Book and it turned out pretty tasty.

This was my first time trying this recipe and it turned out well, though I did omit the raisins soaked in rum since I had none on hand.

I have a recipe somewhere that I used to make in a Bundt pan with a maple syrup glaze (with cinnamon sometimes) and maybe walnuts. Even if the bread came out a bit on the dry side, my neighbors looked forward to a few slices because of the glaze. I should track down that card and give it another go, it has been years since I made that one.

Never had it with raisins, always nuts (walnut or pecan).
