And I'm not exactly a careful person who pays close attention when I'm doing something lol. I see the potential for injury here, but it seems like it would be really hard. Wouldn't not sticking your limbs in a machine with a fast moving metal part just be logical?

I understand the need for a guard on my mandoline, they're dangerous without it. I can't see a mixer being a hazard unless you're almost trying to harm yourself.

The chance of accident is low I guess, but because of the torque and construction if it decides to hurt you it will hurt you good and in a gnarly way. A spiral mixer will totally mangle a part of your hand, then mangle part 10 cm afterwards and so on and pull some more flesh to mangle. i am not sure whether it could tear a limb, but i do see a potential to damage an arm to the point of needing amputation. Big planetary mixers also have protector screen and the small ones have 1 nylon gear as a fuse. Also think of it that way - you have to have luck every time, the spiral mixer have to have luck only once.

And I think that mandoline and deli slicers are relatively safer because they are sharp, cant cut trough bone and damage from them could be stitched.

The big risk is that something wrapped around your neck gets caught in it.

there is a divot in the center of the bowl to help with mixing that seems interesting, i wonder why other manufacturers did not think of that feature.

i also like the two lights on each side of the bar feature on the ooni. i might drill an additional hole on mine and add an extra light.

My guess it that it's there for the paddle and whip attachments and not the spiral.

wondering what the motor specs are on this.. looks like it gets hot quicker hence the fan keeps running even after the mixer is shut off. hopefully folks don't complain of dead motors after few months of daily use.

I wonder how well built the motor will be, if its a 5 year warranty theyre offering then they must be pretty confident of the build quality

This comes after i've been looking at the Famag IM5s HH (3 year warranty?) for ages, we only have one retailer in the UK (casaovens) but their prices are extortionate to what the EU guys are paying for the same mixer

If it performs as good as the im5 i'll be happy

Or alternatively, they are confident of their lawyer's ability to write a nonbinding warranty, or are gambling on where consumer protection laws are heading, or etc. >:D ;D

Seriously though... Are there any pictures of the insides of the machine available yet?

I really like the general concept of this mixer. It would be perfect "companion machine" for me if it had a smaller capacity and PTO that is compatible with Kitchen Aid accessories.

The motor heat and fan does give me cause for concern, similar to any other mixer that calls for cooling periods between batches.

I'm not accusing Ooni of anything here, in fact the dealings I've had with their customer service have been some of the best I've ever had. But I want to see the fine print for the warranty. Every other company I've had to deal with a warranty with, does their absolute best to make the warranty as close to worthless as possible if you need to use it. Fine print won't affect my decision here, I'll be buying one of these. But I am curious about what it will actually cover. I'll be using it way less than a shop but far more than normal folk.
