Spiralmac Royal 5 mixer.
« on: January 12, 2023, 11:43:30 AM »
Every once in a while I look at the spiral mixers at the Pleasant Hill Grain website. Noticed a mixer I hadn't seen before, the Spiralmac Royal 5. Similar price range to the Famag mixer that are about the same size. The biggest difference is that instead of a tilted head, the breaker bar and dough hook unscrew and the bowl lifts out. It looks pretty slick. The only drawback I see is that it looks like there are some positioning pins o. the bottom of the bowl that might be in the way if you wanted to put the bowl directly on a scale. Looks like a cool mixer.

Whenever I think about actually getting a spiral mixer, I can't decide between a Sun or Famag and keep hand mixing, so a third choice is just perfect for me.  :-D

Dont worry about positioning pins, famag has those too and they are fine for putting on scale.   Minimum speed is 110rpm.   I still say famag or sunmix as the slower the better on theses small tabletop spirals unless you only do wet doughs.

Thanks, Scott. That's good to hear. I really like the look of the Marina color on the Famag mixers. That's the one I almost pit in the cart. Got lucky (or unlucky) the time I came closest to buying a mixer the Marina color was out of stock.
