NY style with yellow sauce for Halloween
« on: October 31, 2022, 11:25:47 AM »
Grew a bunch of San Marzano’s from seed this year. Had a some plants producing yellow fruit so put some through the mill to make sauce. Made a couple of pies with it over the weekend for Halloween.

I made some yellow sauce for pasta with some I grew a few years ago. Family didn’t care for it. Gave a half bushel to a guy I knew at a local Italian restaurant. He made a special out of it and sold out  :-D

That’s funny. Color is a bit curious compared to red sauce, but thought taste was about same as the red. Fresh sauce is a bit different than canned. Have made a couple big batches of spaghetti sauce with the reds so far. Always curious why fresh tomatoes don’t make as dark a sauce as canned. Assume it must have something to do with the canning process.
