Just read about this. High tech printed circuit creates the heat. Not cheap but I know you all need one.  ;D

Doesn't get much better than this:

I have one, just wish Brod&Taylor made one a little bigger.
Asked them about it once. They said they have had several inquiries about a bigger one, but no plans on making one.

Also works great for keeping things warm like pancakes and waffles.

I often use my thermoelectric heating/cooling unit for dough. That way you are covered on hot or cold days and don't constantly run house heat/a-c.

I have liked imagining having that a couple other times you have posted it. Before I saw your reply here I saw this review from the OPs link and clipped it in case you missed it.  :-D

We have a small steam room at home and years ago I used to proof dough in it.

the Brod & Taylor gives very precise temp control..   and at  115 deg makes a great yogurt maker.
the enclosed space keeps the humidity up enough that we have never had a dry crust during rising.
it comes with a small tray to hold water to humidify.

love it !

So I'm just starting to really explore the idea of proofing and such ... generally i use ambient for a little bit then through my dough in bulk into the fridge - ball it 24-hours before i bake. How would one use something like this to properly proof? While more expensive, the boxes seem to be a better way to go would they not? I'm not really interested in cost savings - rather getting a good quality system setup.

I use my B&T to bulk proof all of my sourdough bread. Usually around 6 hours at 78.

For pizza, I use it for proofing same-day dough or get CF dough up to temp

Interesting .... what's the process for same-day and for getting CF up to temp?
I haven't done any same-day dough yet and for me to get my CF back up to temp - i usually pull it out of the fridge about 3 hours before the first bake. if you're doing a large batch that doesn't all fit in the B&T wondering what you'd do.

i don't CF same day. It goes into the proofer after mixing. I would do a large batch that doesn't fit in a warm area in my home.

Sorry if i confused you - i was curious about your process for bringing CF up to temp and your process for same day and how the proofer might aid in one or both of those processes.

I like to proof my same day at 78, having a set temp gives me better control and consistency.  I do the same for dough coming out of CF. Everything depends on the dough.

King Arthur sells the B&T, it's the same proofer.

King Arthur sells the Brod & Taylor.
I don't know of anyone else that makes one for home use.

The home oven in my previous house had a proof setting.

the Brod & Taylor proofers have been in short supply since the Covid started a bake at home thing.
He had to wait 3 months to get one through a big box store in Canada that normally has them on the self.
