Silicon mat for stretching dough

Has anybody got a mat to work their dough on, or are you better off with a board?

A board can be difficult, especially with sticky doughs, but I think a mat would be impossibly frustrating. 
I would go with smooth, well-oiled, heavy hardwood. 
I currently use this large heavy pizza peel, which is no good for use as a peel, but passes as a dough board.

I think a silicone mat would slide around too much.
I use one I made out of Corian years ago.

Been using a silicon mat for the past year, no slippage on the counter. Very easy cleanup - I just take outside and shake off the excess bench flour and a light wipe down. I use a 1/3 mix of flour, cornmeal and semolina per the late great Tom L.

I use a silicone mat - there's no sliding around at all.  It works just fine.

Same here, I use a large silicon mat. Doesn't slide on the counter and a bit of semolina and it's easy to work with and clean up after.

Silicon mat works great, but I don't stretch dough on it. I use the hands in the air stretch with gravity. The mat is great for bread making, letting doughball rest on counter and many other uses. One of my favorite kitchen gadgets.

Really, any smooth surface should work perfectly fine.

I really like making pizza on oak sanded down very fine. I lightly oiled it once when I made it years ago and have never needed to do anything to it since.

Thanks for the info y'all.
I guess I do more stretch and folds in the bowl anyway.   Are the mats easy to roll pie crust on?  I have been wanting a larger surface for dough making, but the mats seemed unfeasible.

Why wouldn't there be?  It's not teflon.  It's actually a bit tacky.  I have no problem kneading dough or stretch and folding (not sure why S&F would have an issue with any surface).  Stretching a dough though it might require more bench flour than a granite, or similar, countertop.

Opening I have found it more difficult than on granite (or similar, I have corian I think) because of the stickiness of the silicone.  I just use more semola and make sure to dust if off before moving to the peel.  But I'm knew to the silicone pad - could be I use it for kneadng, but skip it for opening in the future.

I just received this silicone mat yesterday from Amazon. It was only $10.99, one of the least expensive. It rolls out absolutely flat (no curling) and doesn't slip on the counter. It has a fine sandpapery surface. The border is a ruler measured out in both inches and centimeters. It's got a lot of measurement information in the empty spots. I doubt that will be helpful but it is there instead of a blank space. It is 26" x 16" so will fit on most counters. The diameter markings are up to 13" but it is gridded as well so you can easily judge up to 16" diameter. I haven't used it yet. It is suppose to be non-stick or assume you need less bench flour? I bought it because I can dump the excess flour into the waste basket easier.

having read way too many books on bread making I would take "stretching and folding" to mean a technique that substitutes for traditional kneading

his book ... Flour Water Salt Yeast has recipes for straight yeast dough, hybrid dough,  and pure levain / sourdough and with
different grains..

I've been using a silicone mat for the last six months. I don't have granite/stone counter tops and I've never had good results with stretching dough on wood. I wipe the counter with a damp sponge before laying down the silicone mat and it won't budge. A light dusting with flour on top will prevent any sticking. I build the pizza on the mat and then slip the edge of my wood peel under the front edge of the mat and the pie slides right on.

I have been looking at the mats a bit more. Thanks for those who are describing their use. My dedicated space for dough prep has 1/4 brick countertop that is not all that smooth. 
Guess I will be buying a large board after all.
