I'm off to this auction:

...and the wife is out of town.

If that don't spell trouble I don't know what does.

 :o  Uh oh..........

Pick me up that Bakers Pride oven.  (https://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftinyurl.com%2F8kgaz&hash=8959265f2676dba50d1690121f02bb1f50c60b11)

Unfortunately I came home mostly empty-handed.  I've gone to a few restaurant auctions lately and the prices on some of the stuff here were high.  At least the things I wanted...

I *really* fell in love with the 12-quart Hobart mixer.  And I mean *REALLY*.  And I mean *LOVE*.

If not the 12-qt I wanted one of the three 20-quart mixers.  They all were 110 volt, normal electric and all had new SS bowls and dough hooks.  The 12-quart had a 1/2 hp motor, you could mix concrete in that thing!  Normally a 12-qt has a 1/6 or 1/4 hp motor and Hobart doesn't recommend you mix pizza dough in it.  The 20-quart mixers all had 1/3 hp motors.

The 12-qt was auctioned first and there was a brief period where it looked like I might get it for $450, but then the bidding started again. I dropped out when it hit $600.   It ended up going for about $800.

Then the 20-qt mixers went for $1300 - $1800 each.  The last auction I was at a 20-qt Hobart went for $650 so these prices seemed high.  And the funny thing is they auctioned 2 monster mixers at the beginning of the day, a 60 quart went for only $750 (!) and a 140 quart Hobart went for $2200.

There were about a half-dozen pizza ovens, the Bakers Pride was a real nice double oven (two single ovens stacked together I think) with brand new tiles, really clean and nice-looking.  I think it went for $1600 or $1800.  I left before they got to the other ovens, it was turning into a looooong auction and I didn't feel like staying after the mixers were gone.

I did pick up a little Cecilware countertop deep fryer.  I don't even know if it works, it's pretty dirty and beat up.  But no one was interested in it and it looked so cute sitting there, so I had to buy it for the $25 opening bid.

I'm starting to get a feel for the pricing at these things, maybe one day I'll end up with something I want.  But y'all should have seen that 12-quart mixer.   Dam*n.

...so here's tomorrow's auction:

http://sitarauctions.com/081505bellonotte/081505bellonotte.html

I **really** want that mixer!  And as I posted in another thread, if the Wood Stone oven is going begging I don't know if I'll be able to resist bidding.

Well I got the mixer!  Also the meat grinder attachment and the shredder attachment.

If I never post here again it's because my wife ended my life...

Too bad you aren't closer to me, I could buy the stuff from your widow cheap :).  So, how big is the mixer and how badly did your wallet suffer?  Yeah, like you have time to answer, you're off at Sam's or Costco picking up 50 pound bags of flour.  Remember, the flour is cheap, it's the toppings that will drive you into the poor house :)
