After recently dropping my old KA mixer (doh!), I have been shopping for a replacement. Unfortunately budget was tight or I might have been tempted by the Electolux model. However, with the accessories I have, KA was the way I was going to go.

KA basically has 2 types of mixers...the tilt-head models and the lift-bowl models. The lift-bowl models are more "pro"-oriented and careful, do not fit under some kitchen carbinets! So, I was looking at the tilt-head models like the one that splattered my floor. Basically 3 models these days...a low-power 4 1/2 qt bowl and 2 5 qt bowl models, the Artisan and the Accolade. The Artisan is the top seller but I honestly don't know why. Accolade as metal gears to Artisan's plastic and Accolade has 400 watts of power to Artisan's 325. Both are very capable mixers and for what it's worth, the Artisan has a wider variety of color choices.

I recently read that KA is dicontinuing the Accolade, so I was gonna pick one up. Just got it yesterday after buying it new on ebay and so far so good. Handled some eggs this morning and the first batch of pizza dough is now mixing.

Bottom line is that if you are looking for a KA tilt-head mixed to keep your eyes open for the Accolade before it's gone.
