Purpose Of Screens

This is such a newbie question I know but what is the purpose of using a pizza screen? I cook on an Ooni Pro and on a baking stone when cooking inside. Would there be any benefit to using a screen?
I started out with nothing. I have most of it left.

To me, screens in a home setting are used to solve problems. In my case, I wanted to make a larger pie than my stone/steel would accommodate. Other folks use them to keep the crust just off of a stone so it doesnít burn. In an Ooni, I would not use one unless you think that there is a need for one.

I use a screen on top of my stone just for ease of movement in and out of the oven at home.  I don't quite trust myself with a peel yet.

Im not a fan of pizzas baked exclusively on screens... but when dealing with ovens like an Ooni, or even larger wood burning ovens, they can be a big help if you see the bottom of your pizza cooking faster than the top.   When you realize the bottom of the pizza is baking too fast (hopefully caught early enough) you can slide a screen under the pizza and it will drastically slow down the speed of browning on the bottom and give the top a chance to cook properly.
